Backups

CM Chat takes nightly encrypted backups of the database into private storage and keeps them for a limited time (30 days or less). Backups hold the same encrypted content as the live service, so they do not change who can read your data.

What admins see

CM Chat runs and checks backups for you. Workspace admins do not have a backup screen.

Deleting and backups

When a channel or workspace is deleted permanently, its data is made unreadable. Older backups still exist until they expire, and the deleted data in them is not readable. This is why backups expire within 30 days.

Data export for admins is not available yet.
