Workspace admins
The admin console and confirming it is you
The admin console is where owners and admins manage the workspace: people, invitations, channels, the audit log, sessions, files and security settings.
Open it
- Sign in to your workspace at
yourteam.cmchat.app. - Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Workspace admin. You can also go straight to
yourteam.cmchat.app/admin. Only owners and admins see it.
Why it asks you to confirm it's you
The console can change who has access to everything. So even though you are already signed in, it asks you to prove it's you again before you can use it. This is called a step-up. It protects you if someone borrows your unlocked computer.
- A banner says Confirmation needed. Click Confirm now.
- In the Confirm it is you box, click Use a passkey, or type the 6-digit Authenticator code and click Confirm with code.
The confirmation lasts for a short window, 15 minutes by default. When it ends, you are asked again the next time you make a change. An owner can set the window between 5 and 60 minutes; see Security settings.

The console pages
- Overview: counts of people, signed-in devices, messages in the last 24 hours, files and storage, failed sign-ins in the last 24 hours, and pending invitations.
- The left menu: Overview, People, Invites, Channels, Audit log, Sessions, Files and Settings.
Long lists show a few rows at a time with a scroll bar and a search or filter box. Times are shown in your local time.
Everything you change here is recorded in the audit log.
