Using CM Chat

The Windows desktop app

The CM Chat desktop app runs CM Chat in its own window on Windows 10 or 11. Your administrator gives you the installer, CMChat-Setup-1.0.0.exe.

Install the app

  1. Double-click CMChat-Setup-1.0.0.exe.
  2. If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, click More info, then click Run anyway. This message appears because the installer is not yet digitally signed. It is safe when your administrator gave you the file.
  3. Follow the installer and click Finish. No administrator password is needed.
  4. Open CM Chat from the Start menu.

Sign in

  1. On first launch, type your workspace address in Workspace address. For example acme or acme.cmchat.app.
  2. Click Continue.
  3. Sign in as described in Signing in.

Recent workspaces are listed under Recent workspaces. Click Remove next to one to forget it.

Switch workspaces

Press Ctrl+Shift+W, or open the CM Chat menu at the top of the window and click Switch workspace. Then choose a recent workspace or type another address.

Links to other websites, and file downloads, open in your normal web browser.

Update

When your administrator gives you a newer installer, run it the same way. It replaces the old version and keeps your settings.
