Using CM Chat
Writing messages
Type in the box at the bottom of a channel or conversation and press Enter to send. A message can be up to 8,000 characters. Use Shift+Enter for a new line. The formatting bar above the box has buttons for Bold (Ctrl+B), Italic (Ctrl+I), Strikethrough, Code, Code block, Quote, Bulleted list and Numbered list.

Mentions
Type @ and the first letters of a name. Pick the person from the list. They get a mention marker (see Unread messages and mentions).
Two special mentions:
@channelalerts everyone in the channel.@hereis meant for people who are around right now.
Use these sparingly. They draw the attention of the whole channel.
Emoji
- Click the Emoji button in the message box. You can also type a colon and a name, such as
. - Search or browse, then click an emoji.
You can also type or paste emoji directly.
Edit a message
You can edit only your own messages.
- Point at your message.
- Click More actions (three dots).
- Click Edit message. Or press the Up arrow in an empty message box to edit your last message.
- Change the text, then press Enter or click Save. Press Esc or click Cancel to stop. The message shows "(edited)".
Delete a message
- Point at your message and click More actions.
- Click Delete message.
- In Delete this message?, click Delete.
The text and any attached files are removed for everyone, and a "This message was deleted." note stays in its place. A workspace admin can also delete a message; this is recorded in the audit log.
